Flemington - Iwate Friendship Network (FIFN) is a network the Flemington Raritan School District and schools in Iwate, Japan. The network started out when Musashi Eto came up with the idea to write letters and collect donations to help support the children after the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. Four American schools and 6 Japanese schools are involved. FIFN has already exchanged over 1,000 letters and the letter writing continues. The schools involved are also hoping that the network will evolve into closer relationship between the schools through other activities to learn about each other's culture.
