Child Study Team (CST) Testing and Meetings
The District employs a summer CST to fulfill IEP testing and IEP meetings that need to occur beyond the school year.
ESY for 2023
If your child is eligible for our Extended School Year Program, please see below for details.
The Flemington-Raritan School District will be providing an Extended School Year Program (ESY) for Summer 2023. The program will run from June 26th - July 27th, Monday-Thursday from 8:30-12:30 p.m, with the exception of July 7th (as the program will not run on July 4th and the District will be open on Friday, the 7th). Transportation will be provided to and from Copper Hill School, where the program will take place.
The need for Extended School Year will be discussed at your child's annual review meeting. Qualifying criteria includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Regression and recoupment - Is the child likely to lose critical skills or fail to recover these skills within a reasonable amount of time, more significantly than their typical peers?
- Emerging skills/breakthrough opportunities - Will a lengthy summer break cause significant problems for a child who is learning an instrumental skill or one that requires continued learning?
- Interfering behavior - Does the child's behavior interfere with his or her ability to benefit from special education and requires practice in social, emotional or behavioral regulation?
- Nature and/or severity of disability.
Summer Supplemental Services Program
Students with an IEP (currently in Grades K-8) and not recommended for the Extended School Year program per their IEP, are invited to participate in the District’s summer supplemental services program. This opportunity is being made available for students for summer time practice of skills, in an effort to continue learning structures over the summer. If you are interested in your child participating in this program, please complete this brief survey. The program will take place in person, at Copper Hill School. Since busing is not provided, you will be provided with some guidelines for drop off and pick off on your child's scheduled days.
The program will be offered two times per week for two hours commensurate with the dates for the ESY program noted above. At this time, the District will be securing staff for the program, and at the end of the school year, you will be provided with updated information regarding your child’s day of the week and time for participation in the program. Families with children who meet the eligibility requirement for this program are asked to complete this survey to support the District's efforts in considering parental preference in the day of the week and timeframe for each child. The survey link will be forthcoming.
Local Summer Camps
Summer camp programs are available for students with special needs. A local listing can be found (https://www.frsd.k12.nj.us/Page/12862) should families determine they would prefer in lieu of, or in conjunction with the District's funded Extended School Year or Supplemental Services Programs.
