For many students, the recorder is their first instrument. It's always important to care for an instrument properly, so that it will last and sound its best!
Here are a few guidelines to keep in mind:
1. Keep the recorder clean! It's best to clean it every 1-2 weeks. These instructions include washing (removing germs and dirt) and sanitizing (killing germs) steps. A translatable link can be found here.
2. Keep the recorder in its pouch when it's not in use! The pouch protects the recorder from damage and dirt. If your child misplaces the pouch for the recorder, a clean, long sock (athletic or knee sock) can substitute for the pouch.
3. Keep the recorder in a safe place! I encourage students to keep their recorders and music folders in their backpacks, so whether they're at home and need to practice, or at school and need their materials for class, they've got their instrument and music handy.
