                       Second Grade Teacher

Hello and welcome to a new school year!   My name is Michelle Hilke and I am thrilled to be your child's Second Grade Teacher this year!  This is my seventh year teaching at Robert Hunter School, but I am not new to the teaching world or to FRSD!

I attended The College of New Jersey where I received my degree in English and Elementary Education.  I also received my MA in Reading Specialization from Kean University.  I began my teaching career in 1999 and taught in the NJ public school system for 10 years.  I taught third grade, first grade, and reading and math support.  I then took time off from the classroom to stay home with my (then) young children.  During that time, I was a Cub Scout leader, a homeroom parent, and the PTO president at Robert Hunter School!  I've taught Reading Support and Reading Recovery at Robert Hunter for the last six years.  This is my first year back as a classroom teacher, and I am so excited about it!  Second grade is the best!

I live in Raritan Township with my husband, John, and our three children, Andrew (a senior!), Matthew (10th grade), and Abby (6th grade).  We also have two silly cockapoos named Ollie and Ruby.  When I am not teaching I can be found driving my kids to their activities around town.  I also enjoy traveling with my family, hiking and going to the beach, reading, and cooking.

I am looking forward to a wonderful year of learning with your child!
