    Health Education is provided once a week for grades 3 and 4.  Grades Kindergarten, 1, and 2 receive health education from their classroom teachers and by the Health and Physical Education department.  The following topics are taught at each grade level:
    Grades K-2
    • Personal hygiene:  Importance of hand washing, lice control and prevention
    • Safety:  Strangers, school bus, playground, sun safety, good touch-bad touch
    • Substance abuse and use:  Medicine safety, Saying "No" to drugs and alcohol
    • Character Education:  Honesty, respect, trust and how to treat others.  The district character education initiative and goals are reinforced as well.

    • Body Parts and Body Cells
    • Skeletal System
    • Muscular System
    • Nutrition
    • Digestive System
    • Dental Care
    • Environmental Health
    Grade 4
    • Physical Fitness
    • Circulatory System
    • Respiratory System
    • Immune System
    • Diseases:  Communicable and Non-Communicable
    • Substance Use and Abuse:  Smoking, Drugs and Alcohol
    • Family Living:  Growth and Development, Reproductive System, Peer Pressure
