Our first graders had a busy year in counseling lessons. Puppy and Snail puppet were back to help first grade classes identify that people can feel differently about the same event. We also worked as a group on figuring out the personal clues your body gives you to when you are having strong emotions. I was very proud of the discussions we had in every class regarding being assertive. We defined too soft/passive, too hard/aggressive and just right/asserive behavior. Everyone did a wonderful job practicing assertive body language and tone of voice. The end of the year, broght a unit on problem solving and we discussed many problems that students may face throughout their day.
I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable summer. I can't wait to see our current first graders when they return as big second graders!
