General Music Guitar Class
What to expect from this class:
• Basic Guitar Skills (Seating & Posture)
• Note Reading of Standard & Guitar Notations (Open Position Notes)
• Scales & Chords (Major, Minor & Dominant, Blues)
• Finger Style & Guitar Pick (PIMA & Alternate Picking techniques)
• Performance (Examples from text book)
• Repertoire (Classical, Blues, World)
• Audio/Video activities (Demonstrating a variety of guitar styles)

Students will use Classical Guitars and Ukuleles.

6th Grade Guitar Ensemble
This performance ensemble meets once a week to prepare music for the winter and spring concerts. In Guitar Ensemble, students will explore repertoire for trio, quartet and larger ensemble. This includes graded original works, transcriptions and arrangements from the Renaissance period to the present day. Performance etiquette, sight-reading in parts and performance practice will be developed during rehearsals. Classical guitars with nylon strings are the only instruments to be used during guitar ensemble and will be provided by the school district. Students are required to own a guitar for home study.
Guitar Club
Students will learn guitar basics and beyond in a friendly, non-competitive environment. The instructor will provide materials for home study. This will include guitar instruction in the classical, blues, jazz and rock styles. Standard and guitar notations along with chord graphs will be used.Ukulele Club
Students will learn ukulele basics and beyond in a friendly, non-competitive environment. The instructor will provide materials for home study from the FJH Everybody's Ukulele Method This will include ukulele instruction using tablature notations along with chord graphs will be used.
