We are ready for the next part of our animal adaptations unit. We want to look at different animal adaptations and see if they may have inspired the invention of a tool or product. The example above is a great one. The frog's sticky tongue may have inspired the invention of the fly tape because flies stick to a frog's tongue just like a fly sticks to fly tape.
First, we'll read the book, An Elephant Never Forgets Its Snorkel by Lisa Gollin Evans for examples of how animals' adaptations are like tools. Then, we'll brainstorm our own examples. Finally, we'll each select an example, illustrate and write an explanation of how the adaptation my have inspired the invention.
