• About Mrs. Puentes

It all started when I was in second grade.  My teacher's name was Miss Parker.  She is the reason I am here today...she inspired me to become a teacher!  Miss Parker made a lasting impression on me as a learner, friend, teacher, and human being.  She instilled in me a love for teaching and learning, of which I hope to pass along to all of my students!  This is the start of my 15th year of teaching in Flemington Raritan.  I've taught first grade, second grade, third grade, and now I'm teaching fourth grade! I am proud to be a Barley Sheaf Bear!

The early years of my life I spent living between Detroit, MI, Cincinnati, OH, and Naperville, IL.  I loved growing up in the Midwest, close to my entire extended family.  I grew up with the most amazing parents and two older sisters.  Michelle and Kim will forever call me their "little sister," a name that I used to detest, now I love it!  My family and I moved to Flemington when I was 11 and ready to begin 6th grade!  I went to Reading-Fleming Middle School (before it was RFIS) and Hunterdon Central.  I played volleyball for Central's girls team and joined many clubs where I met some amazing friends who I still keep in touch with!  After I graduated from high school I moved south to Virginia and attended Virginia Tech.  Go Hokies!  I earned my Bachelors degree in Human Development-Early Childhood Education and a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction.   I love to watch Virginia Tech sports, but my favorite sport to watch is Hokie football and Yankees baseball!

When I'm not at school, my favorite thing to do is spend time with my family. In 2020, my dreams came true and I become a mom! My daughter Penelope was born on New Years Eve. Our son, Daniel Jr. was born in November 2022. My husband, Dan, and I are extremely proud parents! We love to go for walks, watch sports, or sit out on our patio. I am also a proud aunt to three nephews and one niece on my side of the family, and six nephews and two nieces on Danny's side. We have a big family!   Whenever we spend time together, my family and I love to make and decorate cookies, play card games, go swimming, tell stories, and laugh a lot!  I also enjoy scrapbooking, watching the Yankees, baking/cooking, and reading many different types of genres. I love dogs...especially bulldogs. Danny, and I live in Morristown, NJ in a home we purchased six years ago.
