Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Alison Jaye
I'm Alison Jaye. I have been at Robert Hunter since 2001. I began as a first grade teacher, but since 2012, I have been teaching 4th grade. I love the classroom because I learn just as much as the students!
I graduated from The College of New Jersey (then known as Trenton State) with a degree in Deaf Education, K-8. A few years later, I earned my Masters degree in Education through Gratz College in Pennsylvania.
I loved being a student so much that I vowed never to stop learning. I have been trained in Orton Gillingham (sensory approach to reading and spelling), The Responsive Classroom, Multiple Intelligences, and Kagan Cooperative Learning. I spent a few years in the Flemington Raritan district as a Cooperative Learning Trainer for teachers. Cooperative Learning has transformed my teaching and student learning.
My second job is being a mother to 2 little boys. Well, they are not so little anymore! Ryan is 7 and will be attending 2nd grade at Barley Sheaf. Tyler is 4 and has one more year of preschool. I spend a lot of time playing Star Wars and Super Hero games with them. Having children has made me a better person, a compasionate mom, and an understanding teacher.
Other than teaching and being a wife and mom, I love the outdoors. All summer long, I run, walk, hike, and kayak. While I enjoy these sports, I actually prefer the cooler temperatures and have great fun in the snow come winter. Some other interests of mine are reading, playing card or board games, and just laughing with my friends.
