GREEN AWARDS-
Our district received an award for Environmental Stewardship
for our voluntary and proactive efforts to improve the environment
based on the results of a recent Water Quality inspection.
GREEN FOCUSSince its inception in January 2008, the FRSD Green Committee has identified and focused on several areas:-
Paper Reduction and Recycling
-
Energy Conservation
-
Fuel Conservation and Reduction
-
Water Conservation
-
Cleaning Initiatives to Reduce Chemical Use
-
Education Initiatives
The committee has made great progress in many "Green" efforts and continues to consider, implement and evaluate various initiatives.WATER
Over the last decade, our district has transitioned from manual to auto flushes in all student and staff restrooms, with the exception of Copper Hill School, which houses its own waste management program. Automatic flushes are more sanitary and more efficient with water use and consumption.ENERGY
Our district has replaced bulbs and ballats in virtually all classrooms and offices throughout the district with more energy-efficient lighting fixtures. We've also installed light sensors in specific locations to help control and limit energy consumption. In addition, parking lot lights are on timers, which help to prevent excess energy usage before and after regular school hours.RECYCLING
To promote and encourage recycling, our district installed dumpsters at each building specifically for recyclable materials. Students collect recycling containers in each school and office and deposit the collection into on-site receptacles. This commitment and process has greatly expanded our recycling efforts.Do you have questions or suggestions for us?
