Board approves teacher contract agreement
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 9, 2015 – The Flemington-Raritan Board of Education is pleased to announce that at its June 8 meeting, the Board approved an agreement reached with the Flemington-Raritan Education Association. The teachers’ contract was ratified by the FREA membership on June 4. Highlights of the Memorandum of Agreement are as follows:
· Three year agreement, retroactive, from July 1, 2014- through June 30, 2017
· 20 minutes of additional instructional time daily
· Changes to health benefit plans, resulting in savings for teachers and the district
· Increase in professional development hours
· Overall salary increase of 2.35% in 2014-2015, 2.9% in 2015-2016 and 2.9% in 2016-2017.
During the Board meeting, Board members expressed gratitude and appreciation for the hard work of the Board’s and the FREA’s negotiation teams. “Together with the FREA, our Board worked to develop a fair and responsible agreement that benefits the children in our district,” said Anna Fallon, the Chairperson of the Board of Education’s Negotiations Committee. Now that both parties have ratified the agreement, the final contract will be formalized and posted online upon its completion.
